Know, understand and interpret The response to a previously unseen non-literary passage requires students to show their knowledge and understanding of texts and text types and their ability to establish their own interpretation from the text and to come to conclusions about it.

Students are required to explore a previously unseen non-literary passage and write a response to it analysing and evaluating how the writer’s choices have contributed to meaning.
